T.K. Nelson is an Indianapolis native affected by stints in New York and Dixie. He is a prolific artist believing in destiny and expression. T.K. arrived in upstate N.Y. in 1993 for his high school education centered around art. After two years, he moved to South Kent Connecticut and finished out his education in fine art at South Kent Prep School. T.K. then felt the winds blowing again, which took him to Savannah G.A. where he found life was a little bit slower paced. He dedicated and immersed himself fully to painting in every aspect. Finishing his BFA in four years, T.K. continued painting for galleries in Savannah and absorbed the southern culture for two more years. After being gone from his hometown of Indianapolis for ten years, the twenty four year old headed back north to seek a larger audience for his work. He found that audience in Indianapolis and has been swiftly continuing his professional career as a fine artist.
T.K. Nelson’s main mediums are oils, acrylics, charcoals, and mixed media. He applies his mediums to mainly canvas, linen and found objects. T.K. feels the need to constantly be recreating himself in order to keep his art fresh and alive so he utilizes many different styles. To understand the paintings you must understand the artist. As T.K. will tell you, “I have studied art all my life and I have found that paint is a wild animal made from living roots and berry’s that demands respect. You must learn to tame the beast in order to create your desired effect in your art.”
